Indium(III) fluoride is used in the preparation of non-oxide glasses. It acts as a catalyst in the reaction of trimethylsilyl cyanide (TMSCN) to aldehydes to get cyanohydrins. It play a vital role as a catalyst in organic synthesis to prepare fluorine containing 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles and polysubstituted pyrroles.
