A mild, selective combination reagent for the cleavage of primary alkyl aryl ethers. Boron trichloride is a selective demethylating agent. For preparing methyl esters of fatty acids and for transesterification of triglycerides. Mainly used as semiconductor silicon doping source or organic synthesis catalyst, also used for making high purity boron or organic boron.
